This past weekend, we traveled to Lake Erie. Specifically, the little town of Westfield, NY about 2.5 hrs. north of our home in Pittsburgh. We had a fabulous time. Things went very smoothly with setting up the camper & Michael has become a pro at hauling the big beauty with his truck. The girls had a blast. We made it to the shores of Lake Erie just in time to see sunset on Friday night. On Saturday, we began our day with a early morning trip to the beach to collect rocks, later in the day we found a small farmer's market & explored the little town square. After I had shopped a little at the farmer's market (I picked up some absolutely fabulous peach jam made by some nice little Amish ladies), we headed out to explore
Midway State Park….this place was great. Only 10 bucks for unlimited rides for kids under 5…how nice is that! The rides were all very little kid friendly & really anyone over 7 would probably not enjoy it…but for our kids it was wonderful! The girls mostly loved the carousel as they love, love horses right now, but all the other kiddie rides were a hit also. After a busy afternoon at Midway we headed back to our campground on Lake Erie to have dinner & get to bed early after a long day. The girls slept better than they did on our 1st trip & on Sunday we wanted to keep the day low key, so we had a later breakfast at a local diner & headed to the beach for some rock collecting & splashing in the water. The water, although clear, was frigid….but the girls didn't care & soon they were wet & they removed their clothing to enjoy the water even more (the beach was basically empty except for us, so I thought this was fine). After a few hours of beach fun…we headed back to get packed up & make our way home to Pittsburgh. It was a wonderful weekend away. I am so thankful for these wonderful family times & the resources to get away from the city.
