A burdensome winter

Well, it has now become ridiculous to try to get outside!  We have so much snow piled up that the piles are now taller than me.  The girls, of course, think it's great & they call them their "snow castles", but I am so hoping for a thaw soon.  Yesterday, we tried to get out for a little while b/c we did have sun, although the temperature never got above 20…let me tell you, that is cold, no matter how many layers you have on yourself.  Anyway, the long range forecast does give me hope as it says 50s by late next week….it will probably feel so warm to me at this point, that I will wear shorts.  So much for global warming I guess :)  Hope everyone has a great day & stay warm!!

The girls' "snow castle"…a pile of snow that was scraped off the road by our friendly road workers…crazy, taller than me!

Our frozen stream in the woods

Did I mention we have icicles??

This is so these two, side by side, looking for trouble to get into

These two….

As most of you reading probably have heard, Pittsburgh is now Antarctica!  I can't remember a day when I didn't see snow falling.  That being said, I have 2 little girls with severe cabin fever.  What do you think these two do when they have cabin fever??  Take it upon themselves to find creative forms of entertainment.  This is how I found them the other day when I had gone up to get laundry….Jessica had decided to get my large pot out & fill it with water from the hall bath & then she & Ella proceeded to have a bath….or a Jessie put it, she was washing her puppy aka Ella!

Melting snow = more outside time

Yesterday, although cold, the sun was actually shining ]...so the girls & I ventured out to play in what remained of the melting snow.  On Sunday, it had rained so most of the the snow melted, but they had fun walking around in it & frankly just getting outside.  Funny story, Ella found her pitch fork from her Halloween costume  behind the freezer & has decided it's the best thing since sliced bread.  She carried it around with her a majority of the day yesterday….go figure!  We are preparing for more snow today, but are thankful for clear skies at least.  Hope everyone has a great day!

Snowy play in the woods

We took advantage of the slightly warmer weather...in the 30s on Friday & got outside to play in the snow & explore the woods.  The girls had a blast!  As I mentioned previously, Jessica's imagination is in overdrive right now & to her a fallen tree was a space ship & a stream was a waterfall.  Jessica is also really into being the line leader right now, she does this at school & always wants to be the line leader at home.  She usually assigns Ella as the 2nd line leader & me as the 3rd.  For our walk in the woods we all had to stay in line as she lead the way, funny!  Hope everyone reading is having a warmer week, we are so ready for Spring around here!   Have a good day ;)

The Cardboard Castle

This is the tale of the cardboard castle.  Once upon a time there were 2 little princesses & a nice king who lived in a land that was always winter.  Seeing as how it was so cold all the time, the little princesses were made to stay indoors, by their evil stepmother everyday until Spring came.  King Daddy felt sorry for his little princesses & built them their very own castle from the magical material of cardboard.  The girls' daddy had all the architectural skills to build the castle, but lacked the artistic skills to make the castle pretty.  With the help of the stepmother, the girls painted the castle & reinstalled it in the living room.  The girls decided the stepmother wasn't so bad & even invited her into their castle to read books to them from time to time.  They all lived happily ever after…..The End!

Me & my princesses

Trying out some new editing techniques to get this effect in photoshop.  Grabbed the girls & did a quick picture with them yesterday.  Aren't they cute??  Love them so :)

Remember I paid a professional to take this one when Ella was a new born:

Ok, so her color is better than mine, but I think the effect is similar :)
