Sunshine & dress up
Last weekend, Memorial Day weekend that is, Jessie wanted to play dress up & take a walk outside while daddy & Ella napped. She wore my "sparkle shirt" & her new tutu from my parents. The shirt is way too big (of course), but the fact that she put this together herself is cute to me. We walked over behind the woods near our home to a field where there are some flowers & she was telling me about everything we saw. It was fun to see her exploring a new area & with the sunshine out in full force I couldn't resist some pics of my big girl. The light was so pretty & it perfectly danced in her blonde hair. I edited these a little differently than normally b/c I don't normally have such pretty sun, but I liked them. Enjoy & have a great weekend!

2 year checkup
Yesterday was the 2 year check up. Ella did pretty well in all respects. She was shy with the nurses and doctor, but did finally warm up to their pediatrician Dr. Rowland towards the end. I am very thankful she's so healthy, she's had steady growth along the way & is mostly a happy little thing. Mostly being the key word there. Her 2 year molars are starting to come in so we've had some teething issues.....again!! She also had to have a shot yesterday, so she was not happy....neither was I as at our doc office they insist the parents hold the kids down while they administer the shots. I always feel so bad & Jessie didn't make things better, she kept telling Ella on our way out, mommy give you a shot! I was like, you're not helping. Jessica was really very good at the docs office & she put on a show. She answered all of Ella's questions for Dr. Rowland before Ella had a chance to answer & pretended to be a kitty half way through the appointment. Ella wore her new bee outfit she received from Michael's parents for her appointment. I attempted some snapshots before the appointment, but none really turned out very well, but I still think her cuteness shines through despite my pathetic attempt (the left side of her face is dirty due to me giving her a cookie to eat)! Here are her stats at 2:
I didn't get percentiles this time, but as the doc said she's pretty much a good size for her age, as big as some 3 year olds. This is true & she wears a size 3t to prove it :) Thankful that she's so healthy & developing just as she should.
Could have been the best of the bunch...slight focus issue, too cute not to post though, it goes to show you that even after 10000+ photos I still have trouble :)
Height: 36 inches
Weight: 28 lb 2 oz
Head circumference: 19 inches

Nell
We have taken to calling Jessie, Nell....you guys remember like Jodie Foster. The wild girl, living in a shack in the woods.

Perhaps, this seems mean to some reading; however, I would like to document why we call her Nell....the nature child. She refuses to sleep in her bed. She prefers to sleep on the floor in what she terms her "mest" aka a nest.
She's obsessed with making "mests" outside & often rakes up pine straw or leaves & puts pine cones in it, calling them her dino eggs (She's also kind of obsessed with Land Before Time right now, so that could be why). She has taken eggs from the refrigerator & tried to put them in a nest outside...sigh!! Another incident which influenced her nickname occurred when I was in the kitchen finishing dishes from breakfast & I had allowed both girls to go play in their tree house/playset. I look out to check on them to see clothing and shoes coming down the slide. I ask Jessica why they removed their clothing & she says that they are not girls, they are monkeys & monkeys don't wear clothing. Ok.....I also notice that she has leaves & sticks in her hair & it's all hanging in her face, which is why she now has bangs....that was a little too much like Nell for my liking.
Michael often says he expects to see her down in the woods with a spear hunting...lets hope it doesn't go that far, but I am trying to curb this wild behavior & encourage 1) Wearing clothing 2) No eating leaves, sticks, or plants 3) Sleeping in beds...those are basic right, it shouldn't in theory be that hard, right??
Oh well, despite all of this we do love our wild girl...here's hoping she keeps her clothing on today!!

Kitty pool fun
***It is a rainy & cool Tuesday here, but we had a great Memorial Day weekend, no pool for us due to the cool weather, but lots of fun anyway, enjoy this post I had in drafts while I edit pics from the weekend :)***
The girls have been enjoying their little hello kitty pool the last few weeks. They love to go out in the afternoon to play in the water. The bonus part to this is that they play so well together in it that I actually have time to sit down for a few minutes. Oh to be a kid again & enjoy a little pool so much. One of the funny things that Jessie has taken to doing is using the infant ducky bath that we found several months ago as a row boat. You guys remember this one, the one they used in my kitchen to pretend it was a pool. The look of joy they get is a breath of fresh air. Enjoy some snapshots & have a great day!
