Ella has basically 1 month until she reaches the big 3! I can hardly believe it, but at the same time she is seeming so grown up these days. She has really started to assert herself in our house more & more over the last few months....mostly in regards to competing with her sister. Although, there are many wonderful things about having kids so close together, the competition is NOT one! It is fierce struggle for certain sippy cups, grumbling over who gets their food first, complaining over who goes potty first...you guys get the picture. I have to say Ella is usually the instigator in these little squabbles. She also is a taddletale....oh boy, this gets really interesting sometimes! On a more positive note: She's doing great with her colors, counting to 10, & she does know her alphabet song. She does get tired during the day, but continues to not nap...which has been going on since she was a little over 2, she will however, catch a quick cat nap in the car while we wait to get Jessie from preschool....this is one of my favorite times of the day, when I get to listen to my radio with no interruptions. Ella has excellent hand/eye coordination....she holds crayons & markers correctly & is very good with manipulating a paint brush. I have even started her with some basic cutting exercises. She continues to enjoy music & likes dance. Speaking of dance, I found a great program for her for the summer term & I can't wait for her to start. I feel like both girls need to begin to have things that are specifically for themselves & not do everything together. Ella loves My Little Pony & Sophia the First. Her favorite color is purple. She loves to read & has really become interested in helping me cook. She's our diva & loves to pose for me, as you can see below :) It looks like this week our weather will finally break & they will be able to fully enjoy playing outside.....we are all looking forward to it. I hope everyone has a great day!

Weekend
We were so fortunate this last weekend to enjoy a visit with Michael's parents. The girls had a blast & we even got to go out on Saturday night. We went to a Brazilian steakhouse…this place was surprisingly good…although I got no pics, it was a lovely evening. We took Michael's folks to do one of Pittsburgh's most popular tourist attractions…the incline. The girls had a fun time also & there is a great view from the top. After the incline we went to a new park & tried out the big blue slide…how fun! Thanks to Michael's folks for coming to PA to visit us & watch the girls for a much needed night out.

Update
So guys, I've been struggling to feel inspired with the weather still being like winter…but, I thought I should update the old blog.
- Our days lately have been filled with art, attempts at playing outside when the weather wasn't gross, & dress up.
- We've also been cooking, the girls new favorite to make is mini-pies…recently we made mini blueberry pies, which daddy also enjoyed.
- We've all been sick for basically a month…colds, bronchitis, stomach issues, you name it, the girls have had it & in turn so have we.
- The girls just had haircuts & they both look a lot cuter. They always amaze me with the hairdresser appt….they love going to "mommy's beauty shop"…are they Southern or what?? Folks in Pittsburgh always laugh at them when they call the salon a "beauty shop". They both love to sit in the big chairs & have their hair washed & cut. Ms. Jackie their stylist always gives them a "princess braid" for being good, they love it & hardly let me take it out at night.

- Sidewalk chalk is a big deal around our house…they love coloring on the patio outside our kitchen. Jessica has taken to drawing people & it's so funny. People are drawn with a huge head & stick legs…daddy always gets glasses & a bow tie, but that's it.
Look at the size of that chalk…dollar spot at Target, it should last us a little while, at least :) |

- The girls went with daddy this last weekend to see their 1st movie, they saw Frozen & are now obsessed with Princess Elsa & Anna. Yesterday, while in Target, we saw that Frozen is already out on DVD, how can that be??

- Due to the continued winter-like weather, I've been trying to find beauty in everyday things, I've taken some pics of said things to encourage myself that this is true

More candids
So on the day we had a taste of spring…I took more pics, just getting around to loading them. Enjoy! Ella's face is a wreck as I can't keep her clean, but you guys at least see that they had fun :)
The girls are obsessed with "working" on the barbie jeep & Jessica now believes she is a bird…more specifically a "beautiful macaw"….not really sure where we got either of these things, but that's why they are doing in the below pics.
I liked this one enough to do both b/w & color…the color one has a little purple fringe, but otherwise I think it's really pretty…my 85mm lens has awesome optics, but it does purple fringe if you have strong backlight
