Little gymnast

Jessica Marie started gymnastics classes about 3 weeks ago.  She really didn't want her pics made the first few weeks as she was so focused on learning "her skills" that we both agreed it was best that I didn't try to document her experience.  Today she & her teacher allowed me to grab a few pics.  So proud of all the progress she is making.

Lent Photo A Day: Knowledge

I went through many years of school & the word knowledge was often synonymous with books. A knowledgeable person was therefore a well-read/well-studied person. The bible tells us in Proverbs 1:7-"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction."

I believe that true knowledge only comes from one book, the Bible. The more we read it the more knowledgable we can become.

Lent Photo A Day: Sabbath; 

We try in our family to make the Sabbath a day for relection & to keep it holy. We get up, ready for Church, & congregate to worship our Creator. It is easy to forget why we do these things & especially easy to rush through them to get the day done. I am personally striving to reduce the stress of Sundays & instead focus on keeping the Sabbath as a day of rest.

“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. "

James is one of my favorite books of the Bible, it brings to light the improtace of 'the tongue' & our speech.  The ways we express ourselves through speech should be pleasing to God & not tear down others.

Lent Photo A Day Challenge #16: Follow

Follow is a simple word, we all know what that means, right?  I immediately thought of follow the leader & how when my kids get with their cousins they follow each other around the house.  However, as I reflected on what "follow" means to me in terms of my faith, I thought of what my outward behavior displays & do people recognize that I am striving to follow Christ?  A good question for this Lenten season!  I pray that when people interact with me they see a flawed person trying follow Christ in my own imperfect way.

"To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps."

Lent Photo A Day #15: Poor

In the beatitudes of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus declares, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3)


To be poor in spirit is to recognize your utter spiritual bankruptcy before God. It is understanding that you have absolutely nothing of worth to offer God. Being poor in spirit is admitting that, because of your sin, you are completely destitute spiritually and can do nothing to deliver yourself from your dire situation. Jesus is saying that, no matter your status in life, you must recognize your spiritual poverty before you can come to God in faith to receive the salvation He offers.
