18 Months Old

Dear Jessica Marie,
I can hardly believe that you are 18 months old.  I still remember bringing you home from the hospital and trying to figure out how to take care of you when you were just a few days old.  We have had so many wonderful times over the past year and a half and I am so honored to be your mommy.  You challenge me daily to be a better mommy & teach me things that I never thought I'd need to learn :)  You are without question your father's daughter & I see the same flash of intuition in your eyes that he gets from time to time.  You also have some of my traits and when you want to be sweet & cuddle--you are sweet like no other.  Here are a few of my favorite memories over the last 6 months with you.  I know one day it will seem like I was one of "those" moms who photographed everything, but please know how much I have cherished this time with you.   I love you precious daughter!

12 months old: You turned one on March 4, 2011 & we had so much fun!  The day I took you to have your 1st b-day pics made (actually a few days before your birthday) it was snowing & cold, but your smile brightened up the day
This is one of me & daddy's favorite--you had just started really walking everywhere

We were very excited to celebrate your 1st b-day

I really love this one of the two of us
For your party, I decorated our home & you had cupcakes instead of a cake--they were pink velvet & you loved them.  Both sets of Grandparents came to visit you during this month, as did your Aunt Wendy, Uncle Brett, & cousin Hannah
During March we did some fun things: you got to meet new friends and play at the park
You loved the slide at the Blueberry patch

Having fun at Sprouts of Faith at our church
April 2011: You were 13 months old this month, getting ever more steady on your feet.  This is when I really noticed that you began running. We could start getting outside more often & you began to really love our walks in the afternoon.
Playing in the yard

You really loved to eat frozen blueberries b/c you were teething

Daddy got you a beautiful Easter basket & you got a little bunny from Mommy
May 2011: You were 14 months old.  I was 9 months pregnant & I tried my best to keep up with you but it was a challenge :)  You became a big sister during this month & learned about a real life baby!
This was your last day as an only child

You were learning your body parts & began pointing out baby Ella's nose for us

Such a sweet big sister
June 2011: 15 months old and loving the pool by this point.  Everyday in the afternoon, you'd go outside to the pool & splash around.  It was very precious to see you having so much fun.
Loving the pool

You also had a healthy dose of sibling rivalry & would often get in the baby's swing
July 2011: 16 months old. You were getting more verbal & more funny by the day.  I think you were trying to distract me from the baby & you sure loved to ham it up for anyone that would watch you.  You continued to love the pool & got to go to the zoo for the 1st time.

You also developed a love for chocolate chip cookies during July--you especially liked them frozen
August 2011: 17 months old marked a real change in you from my perspective.  You became much more verbal this past month & you have words for just about anything.  You got a new playroom & your little monkey MoMo became your best friend.  You learned to walk up & downstairs by yourself.  Your look also went from a baby to a little girl. You learned your colors & called yourself a good girl.  You loved the car & to see dada driving his car.
Still loving the pool & now you could tell me it was blue
Loving your MoMo
Getting so big & telling me about your rocks
The expressions on your face have always said 1000 words

September 2011: You were 18 months old 2 days ago (Sept. 4th), but I am posting this today Sept. 6th.  As I type this you've already pulled the blanket off your sister.  Had breakfast and a snack & now are begging for my breakfast too.  You've chased the Kitty cat behind the couch & somehow manged to keep MoMo by your side through all of this.  Eventhough, you can be a handful sometimes most of the time, I never get tired of hearing your little voice or seeing your beautiful face in the morning.  You make the world a better place just by being in it.  It is my privilege to be your mommy.  Here are a few pics from the Labor Day weekend & her actual 1/2 year birthday to enjoy (there are also some of little Ella, too).

It's more fun to let the water out of the pool than to swim

Loving the ball

Squealing with joy

Not so sure about keeping the swimsuit on

I hope you all had a relaxing weekend & that you got to enjoy some good food on Labor Day.  It rained here on Sunday & Monday so we were inside, but still managed to have fun.  It's raining here again today, so I guess I'll be in the playroom.  Have a great Tuesday!
