This post is for me so that in years to come I don't forget the precious memory of Mother's Day 2012. The day started like any other Sunday morning. Us getting up to try & get both girls ready so that we could be on time for church at 9AM. To my surprise, Michael had gotten up early & had placed several chocolate surprises in my bathroom & he then informed me that he was getting the girls ready this morning. That allowed me to get an extra long shower in my nice, new luxurious shower. He also had made great coffee & told me the girls would be doing a skit for me...hmmm, now this one made me very suspicious. I was thinking is he going to dress them up like wild animals or indians, that's pretty much the only roles my kids play right now. Instead, he played nice music & had Jessie bring me letters from their fridge phonics that spelled "Thank You". He had created an acrostic for me that read like this:
Tenderness: Your heart is tied to ours. When we hurt, you hurt.
Help: Every day we can do more & more, but you are good at helping us do it for ourselves
Answer: Every time we call, you answer, no matter the hour, no matter how you feel
Night-night: Your face is the last one we see, & we always feel safe facing our dreams
Kindness: you do things for us that you wouldn't do for yourself
Year: Times will change, & we will grow up, but the 3 of us will always have this past year together
Omelet: You knew we would have to bring this up. Yours are the best (I've made about 1 million)
Understanding: you know us better than we know ourselves. We don't need to tell you b/c you already know.
Michael had printed this acrostic on pretty paper & also made me a letter from the girls with both their little hand prints (although, a little smudged, it's perfect in my opinion ;) Because I was unable to serve in the nursery at church on Easter, I was scheduled to serve on Mother's Day, Michael took my shift so I could enjoy the service, which was very nice! When we returned home from church he made me a lovely lunch of grilled steak topped with crab & Bearnaise sauce. Grilled asparagus & potatoes--now, he's an excellent grill master, but he outdid himself with this. After we all had napped, we enjoyed some family time & then headed out for one more Mother's Day treat---ice custard--like ice cream only better! It was a wonderful day & one I will always remember, especially little Jessie bringing me letters that spelled thank you, very sweet! I hope all the mama's reading this were made to feel special also. Although, I forgot to get a pic with the girls...here are a few from Saturday evening of them playing in the yard. (the majority are Ella, but still all are cute to me)
