Norway adventure: Part V

Day 5 of our Norway adventure began yet again in Bergen.  We left Bergen bright & early for a tour of the Eidfjord.  The Eidfjord is known as the queen of the fjords, so not quite as grand as the previous day's, Sonjefjord, but beautiful in it's own respect.  The Eidfjord tour began on a bus, then boat, sightseeing tour of Eidfjord (the town, which also included a look at the Voringfossen--the most visited waterfall in Norway & a trip to the Nature Center), a boat back to the port, then a bus back to Bergen.  Again, it was a full day with very little down time.  I found the scenery to be very quaint on this particular day, with many little villages & beautiful little boat houses.  The fjord was not as high or as deep as the previous day, but more rugged-looking, if that makes sense.  The day started off quite cloudy, but mostly cleared up by the end.  Michael and I remarked at how vivid the greenery of this fjord seemed.  The Nature Center's highlight was a 30 min. panoramic movie highlighting the beautiful scenery of the fjord.  The Voringfossen drops 597 ft. from a mountain & we got to go to the top of the mountain to view this drop.  A little scary & my husband, who does not like heights, did not step close enough to really see it, but as you can see in the photos it was quite impressive.  After two full days of fjord cruises, we were both still rocking that night as we went to sleep & would end our trip to Norway by touring one of the villages on foot the following day.

  1. Shannon, these are absolutely beautiful. Some locations look prehistoric.
