Bowling Birthday Party

This weekend we were invited to one of our little friend's birthday parties.  He was turning 6 years old & his sweet mommy had planned a bowling party for him.  To our surprise, the girls, were quite the little bowlers.  Jessica especially loved when she threw the ball & hit the pins.  Ella didn't really understand the game, but was excited nonetheless.  It's funny how the girls are beginning to understand that daddy does some things better than mommy & they just wanted daddy to help them bowl...which, means the girls are wise beyond their years as I am no bowler!  It was a fun time & I could hardly believe they had a size 6 toddler shoe at the bowling shoe rental...those were some tiny little bowling shoes...but Ella loved wearing them.  Well, girlfriend, does love her shoes, so I guess this should be no surprise.  The girls were in heaven as they served hot dogs & fries & then chocolate cake...little kids dream food!!  They also did a pretty good job of taking turns with the other kids while bowling.  Jessie did pretty well & managed to knock some pins down, Ella, well, if she hit any...it was probably an accident, even with the bumpers up, she didn't really knock too many down :)  They had a great time & we had a fun time as a family.  Thankful to celebrate with our friends.

P.S.  The girls insisted on wearing tutus--to bowl--the compromise was that they wore shorts underneath...life with girly girls :)

That bowling ball was made of chocolate...you better believe this mama, sampled that!!

Are these the  cutest little bowlers you've ever seen or what??

Please ignore the fact that they are both picking their noses

Ella let me help her with one round...then kicked me to the curb

Daddy was back with her after our bad attempt

Our hostess had her hands full with that many little kids wanting cake

Day of Beauty

Today was a day of beauty for the girls.  With Jessie starting preschool in a few weeks, I knew she needed an actual haircut & because Ella must do everything that Jessie does, we needed 2 haircuts :)  I took the girls to a salon that specializes in children & treated the girls to a haircut & "minicure".  They had a blast, although, they look so serious in the pictures.  Ella was hesitant at first to have her haircut, but soon warmed up to the idea once she saw sissy getting hers done.  They had tvs above the mirrors to keep the kids entertained while they cut hair, so that was a bonus.  Ella chose pink polish & Jessie went with dark blue with sparkles.  What was best about the salon is that the girls each got a prize at the end for good behavior :) Both chose a princess puzzle, of course.  Enjoy a look at their day of beauty!

Savoring Summer

With Summer temperatures retreating the past couple of weeks, we are starting to feel like the last days of summer are upon us.  I'm not complaining, high 70s day & high 50s night is pretty much my idea of awesome weather, but, alas, it is not really great for the pool :(  Before you know it summer will be winding down.  My Jessie girl is starting real preschool on Aug. 27th...I can hardly believe it!!  I'll do a whole post on that, but I'm waiting on a special dress to do her preschool pictures.

My goal for this summer was to take a moment to smell the summer air and relish in these sweet summer nights.  To soak up as many little girl cuddles as I could get.  I think I've pretty much done that, even amid sleepless nights, sicknesses, & the everyday motherhood concerns that I'm sure most reading have.  Nothing marks the passage of the seasons quite like watching your children grow & change.  Both the girls can do things in Aug. that they didn't know how to do in May.  Ella, especially, has exploded with language & is making complete sentences.  She is riding her trike independently & loves butterflies.  This weekend we watched her play & squeal with delight as the below butterfly flew near her.  Hope you all have a great day!

Little sisters

Last one of the fairy pics I'll post, but I had to add this one.  As a mommy, this makes my heart happy to see them actually getting along.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Tea time

Tea time with Ella includes her sitting the princess friends at the table & serving them.  No seriously, she does this all by herself.  I often hear her upstairs setting the table.  Pretty cute if you ask me.  Apologies for a child over 2 using a paci....she was off of it & then found this one.  No matter how tired & grumpy I can be, Ella can always bring a smile with her sweet personality.  Thankful that she's mine!  Happy Friday & have a great weekend :)

Ta-dah!!  This is classic Ella, you can't teach this kind of performance nature :)  Dance is in her near future!!
