Idlewild

We took the girls to Idlewild on Monday, which was quite a treat.  Although, the weather was supposed to be much cooler, we endured the 90 degree heat to have a great time.  Idlewild is our little amusement park which is geared towards kids, it's just about 1 hr outside of the city.  Most of the rides are for very small children & our girls were right in their element.  Although, I would say, with a child younger than Ella (2 years)...I would hesitate to take to the park.  It helped that Jessie has no fear & Ella insists on doing everything that Jessie does, so there was no fear/tantrums/or drama about riding any of the rides.  The first stop on our adventure at Idlewild was Storybook Forest, which is 50 or more years old & has depictions of classic nursery rhymes in statues/houses/characters scattered throughout a "Forest".  It's cute & certainly worth doing, but the girls got impatient to ride the rides, so we kind of rushed through the last part.  Our next stop was to Raccoon Lagoon, the ultimate in kiddie rides.  On our way to this area we did briefly go through old Idlewild & ride the hot air balloon ride.  It was the first type of amusement ride the girls had ever been on & they were so excited & happy.  They were laughing & squealing as the balloon ride got going.  After this balloon ride, we hit all the kiddie rides in Raccoon Lagoon.  Thankfully, most of the rides had very short lines, so they girls didn't have to wait too long for any one ride.  I am pleased to say that there were no meltdowns due to hunger/lack of naps/ or just plain grumpiness.  They girls did great & we were so proud of them & their unusually good behavior.  There is a waterpark attached to Idlewild & we did briefly make a visit to this area to cool off, but it was terribly crowded so we basically just got wet & then headed to do more rides.  We rounded out our day with a ride on the beautiful, old carosel & the last ride of the day was with daddy on the big Ferris wheel.  The girls look so small with daddy in the Ferris wheel, but that's all I've heard about from Jessie.  Thanks to Michael for taking the day off to do this with us.  I know it will be one of our best memories from this summer.
