A little performer!

This weekend around the Passineau household we had a quiet weekend (well, as quiet as you can have with 2 little ones in the house).  On Saturday, the heatwave continued and Jessica was again stuck inside most of the day :(  Being stuck indoors, more frequently, than she is used to has made her more creative in her mischief.  I have one cabinet in my kitchen that she is welcome to play in & we have even stocked it with plastic things, cutting boards, large bowls, and some of her books & toys.  This is the only way I can get a moments peace to cook.  I know everyone has some funny pics of their kids climbing into the cabinets or wearing bowls on their heads, but it is truly so much funnier when it's your own child!  This weekend she decided to, not only wear the bowls as hats, but also sit in them & spin herself around (see pics & video below).  She is such a little performer, it's almost as if she knew I had grabbed my camera to capture her antics & began hamming it up all the more.  On a different note, her language skills are improving daily & her 2 new words for the weekend were picture (or pick-choo) and purple (poo-ple).  She is really in to her Eric Carle ABC flash cards, so I thought I'd get her some touch and feel color flash cards to enjoy.  The Eric Carle cards are adorable and she just loves them, I'd highly recommend these to any mommies reading our blog.  I'll let you know about the color flash cards.  Sunday, we enjoyed church and then some fellowship with our small group.  Jessica looked adorable in a little dress Grandma Washington had sent her so I had to take some pics.  Hope you enjoy the pics and video.  Happy Monday to all!

Hurricane Jessica and Tropical Storm Ella

Today has been one of the hottest days on record in Pittsburgh, PA...my car thermometer actually said 99 degrees--a number I haven't actually seen on a thermometer since moving from Sweet Home Alabama, almost 3 years ago.  I've been trying to find ways to keep Jessica entertained inside b/c it has been too hot for us to go outside to play in her pool.  She has recently gained the nickname "Hurricane" due to the fact that she causes destruction wherever she goes.  This afternoon she went down for her nap & when I heard her shrieks adorable cries, I went upstairs to find that she had thrown everything out of her crib, which has become her usual habit.  Seeing as how I have OCD, I then had to pick everything up & organize her toys and books that go in her crib.  Being stuck indoors today, my entire downstairs looks similar to her room (see below), toys and books all over the floor--guess Hurricane is a fitting nickname, right??  Ella has been, from the very beginning, the more sedate of my two children; which I thank the good Lord for everyday, I couldn't handle two like Jessica!  Well today, I guess because we've heard a fair amount of whining from the big sister, Ella decided to try and "talk" over Jessica (see video below).  She is so funny--trying with all her might to be as loud as possible while Jessica whines in the background.  Poor Michael will never get a word in once these two are able to really talk.  Hope you all stay cool & enjoy your weekend!

Pigtails and playtime

These little girls just seem to get cuter by the day!  I'm so excited because Jessica's hair is finally long enough for pigtails, which means, despite her initial dislike of this hair style--she will be wearing her hair like this until she figures out to get the little elastics out of her hair b/c mommy think it's adorable.   As for Ella, well, she just gets more aware and interactive.  She has been sort of giggling over the past 2 weeks, but last night and today, she totally laughed.  Last night or early this morning, whatever, you might call 3:30 AM, Ella woke up to eat & after she had her bottle she just started smiling & cooing like crazy.  Usually, she settles right back down for more sleep, but this was different, I started telling her I was going to tickle her little feet & she started kicking & laughing at me.  Some may say this was just gas, but I believe it was a real laugh.  Despite the time, I have come to appreciate her silly little personality at the nightly feedings (I secretly believe it's because she knows I don't like getting up in the middle of the night & she's trying to say thank you in her own little way.)  That's all for now, got to go get Ms. Jessica ready for the pool!

Not so sure about the pigtails

Sibling rivalry at it's best!

I promise I've been trying to work with Jessica on not sitting on, hitting, or scratching her baby sister.  Well, needless to say, it has been an uphill battle.  Jessica has had a bad habit of sitting in the bumbo seat since I got it out for baby Ella.  Yesterday, I had put Ella in the bumbo to "sit" after she ate & I left Jessica playing with her toys while I went to get dinner ready.  I got to work preparing our meal, but heard no noise coming from our family room...which, as any mommy knows, is never a good sign when you have a toddler.  I went into our family room to find Jessica sitting on the center part of the bumbo, while Ella was also in it.  I do have photographic evidence, see below.  I thought it was pretty clever to figure how to "sit on baby Ella" without actually sitting on her.  Have a great Wednesday!

Baby Ella is 2 months old!

Being the second child, especially the 2nd child in house with Jessica, is hard.  You get less attention than the 1st baby got and your poor, tired mommy forgets to write down important stats like weight and length in your baby book.  Yesterday, was Ella's 2 month check up and wow I can't believe she's already 2 months.  She now weighs 11 lbs 11 oz and is 23 inches long.  Her pediatrician thinks she's doing great.  Thank God for a healthy baby!  She is truly so pleasant, except when she needs her diaper changed or is hungry.  This past week she has been cooing like crazy and giving everyone who talks to her ear to ear smiles--which we all just love.  It's funny how different the two girls are already.  She did have to have 3 shots and an oral vaccine :(  Despite, all of this, she only fussed for a little while and basically just slept the rest of the afternoon.  She was fussy in the evening, but nothing a big bottle and some cuddles couldn't cure.  Here are a few pics of her dressed up for the doctor.

Can't resist those little chubby cheeks
