Pumpkin Patch 2013

Since last year's visit to the Pumpkin Patch, the girls have been getting excited about pumpkins for this year (you really should take a peak back at last year's post, they were so little, Ella wasn't even 18 months quite yet).  I guess this is now a tradition ;)  We take them to Reily's Summer Seat farm for our pumpkins & for Christmas.  There is a little farm that is nearer to us, but it's usually so crowded that you can't even find a parking spot.  Reily's really is great, not as crowded & loads of activities for the kids.  This year the girls did the hay ride to the patch, got their faces painted, road some kid powered car things, saw some animals, played inside a giant inflatable pumpkin, & did a corn maze...kid sized.  The ride out to the patch went great, both girls were very excited the tractor would take us out to the patch & both liked being in the patch.  Of course, they picked 2 of the biggest pumpkins out there, poor Michael :)  Mostly the girls wanted to sit on or roll the pumpkins.  After we rode back to the farm, the girls did the corn maze in the kids area; in theory, a kid sized maze sounds great; however, when your kids will not go in without you, that makes it a little more challenging.  Needless to say, I climbed through the maze with them while they ran ahead of me & I got whacked in the face with corn.  At the very end, there was an area where you could crawl under a tunnel to get out, I opted out of that & went over :)  We then headed over to get our faces painted, the girls had originally wanted ghosts, but opted for the kitty face in the end.  Ella always gets whatever Jessica does.  By that time, Michael had returned from carrying our 50 lbs of pumpkins to the car & rejoined us as we let the girls play on these metal trike/car things, neither could peddle them all that well, so we ended up mostly pushing them.  We then headed to the Wanda the witch area, where there was a large inflatable pumpkin that the kids could go inside to capture balloons, they got a prize if they did this, so they were happy.  The girls were both scared of the wooden Wanda the witch, even though you got candy if you went inside her house...go figure!  We finished our time at the farm by getting the kids a "goody" bag, which was a paper sack with about 10 cents worth of merchandise inside, but to my kids it was the best gift they've ever received & was played with for many hours, do any other kids do this or is this just mine??  They also got to pet a few animals before we made our way to the car.  It was a fun time & they had a blast, although next year I'm hoping they can do the corn maze by themselves :)
